The shortest or the nicest way?

Updated: Dec 24, 2024

When I am traveling generally I decide only the destination, but not the exact roads. In this way, my journey is full of wonders and beauty. I am avoiding fast highways and choosing hidden roads. The travel time is longer this way, but real treasures are along. This is how I found the amazing Caples Lake - it was breathtaking!

I captured that beautiful moment on a peaceful morning in June 2019. It was on the way to Tahoe Lake, but when I saw it, I must stop here. Only a man was fishing there, who asked me: "Nothing can beat this view, right? :)

"Right..." - I replied with a smile.

We sat silently next to each other for an hour. This was a moment when I realized we only use excuses to be there - like "pretending" fishing or taking photos. But the actual reason is just to stop for a moment and amaze the beauty around us.

Caples Lake, Eldorado National Forest, California So, why do you run on the fastest and busiest way? Why don't you stop for a moment and look around? What do you gain and miss in this way?
